The Blacksmith shop was yesterday's gas station and was also known as a place for the men to gather now and then.
Founded just after the Revolutionary War Commack's Methodist Church is the oldest in New York state. Until the 1950's it served for many miles around.
The Irelands had a Blacksmith Shop, Wheel-wright Shop, and a few houses on Commack Road. The Blacksmith shop was later taken over by John Keeman in the 1900's.
