Commack Methodist Church |

The Commack Methodist Church is the oldest in New York State and is also noted for being the closet to original condition. It was built just after the Revolutionary War and the cemetery was in use from the 1790’s – 1850’s. Many of the families that helped settle Comac can be found here. |

The Whitman family are said to be the first to settle Comac calling their land Whitman’s Hallow. The built a house back up on a hill and a small store by the corner of Jericho and Townline Rd in 1672. |

Samuel and Nehemiah Brush were two brothers whose family came from Huntington in the early 1700’s. They had large farms on the north side of Jericho Turnpike west of Town line Rd. |
