The Johnsons
The Johnson family came from Scandinavia in 1901 and settled on some land along the west side of Larkfield Road where they built a house and raised their large family.
When the Johnson's came to Commack in 1901 they lived on Larkfield Road where they built their first house for $6.000 and started a farm.
There were a number of boys in the Johnson family and they all became farmers in the area. One of the sisters, Edna, became a school teacher here.
When they were all grown the brothers helped each other with their farms which went from Jericho Turnpike to Clay Pitts Road along Larkfield Road.
Their hard work in the fields paid off and with the help of an Italian family that came out every summer one of their truck loads of crops is ready.
