The Harneds
The Harned family has lived in Commack since the late 1700's. They once owned two large farms in the Winnecomac area including the present site of the house and saw mill.
The Harned house on New Highway with cows grazing near one of the four large ponds that once were near the house. The farm was John Wicks in 1840-50.
Mrs. Minnie Moreland Harned in 1903 with her first son Amos standing near the barns by the house that may date to the 1850's or earlier.

After running the general store until 1900 Herbert J. Harned became the head of road maintenance and would take work crews to level and grade them.
