Methodist Church
The Commack Methodist church was founded in 1783 with the help of a British tailor named John Philips who formed the Hubbs, Burrs, Brushs, and others into a Methodist Society. They then built the church in 1789.
For many years the Methodist Church was the only church for miles around and people traveled far to come here. The carriage sheds can be seen on right
The Methodist Parsonage house was built in 1886. The next house over was that of Mr. Brynt who was the Postmaster for many years.
Most social functions in the community revolved around the church like this c.1910 summer picnic in The Grove at Eatons Neck.
Three years after the 150th celebration the church held a home coming in 1936 and the whole town, young and old, turned out for the occasion.
