Burr Cemetery
In 1851 the Burr cemetery was originally located in-between farm fields, maybe in a small grove of trees, and seems to have stopped being used by c.1878. When the Army came in 1918 they cleared three farms and built Brindley Field. The cemetery now sat in the middle of a runway with a small white fence around it. After the war the cemetery was again surrounded by Cabbage, Potatoes and Wheat. By the 1950's Modells was built and the old cemetery was now surrounded by a parking lot.
One of the two oldest headstones is that of William Wicks who died in 1851 and is in the first row. Wm. Wicks appears to be the only none Burr family member buried here. The smaller stone on the end is that of Phebe Mari Burr wife of Henry who died in 1878 and may be the last time the cemetery was used.
located in the parking lot Modells and The Home Depot this old cemetery was that of the Burrs and from the headstones appears to date from c.1851-1878, but maybe older.
In the back can be found two headstones to old to read except for the name Charlie Burr on the right stone.
In the middle can be found Jacob and Phebe Burr, Jacob's headstone being among the two oldest dating to 1851, when he died at the age of 89. Phebe died in 1868 at the age of 91.
